Commissions

I accept a limited number of commissions each year. It pleases me to create personal pieces tailored to suit your needs for size, color and subject matter. Following significant discussion regarding your wants and desires, completion time will depend on my availability, the size and complexity of the piece. A deposit is required before I commence the process.
I work from my own reference photos so that your piece is considered an original by professional standards.
"Sandy created her lovely painting ‘Eternal’ as a commission for me to commemorate my late father. It was such a pleasure to deal with Sandy, she truly listened to me and she made sure to keep me involved as the painting progressed. It was magical to see the piece of art come to life while she worked on it...For me, this is more than a lovely picture on my wall. It is a reminder of my time with Dad during his last years...Thank you, Sandy, for this beautiful painting, it means the world to me."

"First of all I want to convey how much we absolutely love the painting. The more I look at it the more beautiful it becomes. It looks so beautiful in my space and we are over the moon happy…Sandy, you really out did yourself on this gorgeous painting and…please know that Steve and I both equally love this piece and are so glad you took the time to create this for us.”

"Sandy Terry created a beautiful floral piece for us after a recent renovation left a rather large space on our wall. We had been great fans of Sandy’s work for some time and jumped at the opportunity to have one of her spectacular pieces in our collection. Working with Sandy on this piece was one of the most interesting and joyful experiences we’ve ever had. Sandy took everything into consideration while creating our piece; we sent her paint chips, photos of the room, talked about lighting—and a million other things that made this experience personal as well as unique. Knowing how important music is in our lives, Sandy asked for a playlist to listen to while she created our piece. The result was Harmony. This beautiful painting is one of the real treasures in our home and working with Sandy one of the most treasured experiences.

After working with Sandy on a previous commission, it was a genuine thrill to do so a second time. I had the opportunity to visit Sandy’s studio and saw a lovely koi painting she was working on but knew I simply didn’t have the space to make an offer on that piece. We worked together to find a perfect spot for a smaller piece that Sandy custom-made to fit. That koi
painting, Affinity, is the focal point in our room and the one guests gravitate to immediately when they enter our home, commenting always on its unique beauty. These two paintings not only have a special place in our home, but Sandy is such a talented and loving human that she has an even more special place in our hearts. Working with Sandy is worth the price of the commission itself, but the resulting art is truly beyond compare. We consider ourselves so fortunate to have ‘discovered’ this wonderful artist."

"Until I looked on line at Sandy Terry's 'gallery', I had no idea how a piece of art could transform a space. Once I realized how the entrance hall in our little home could glow with the right painting, out went my limited edition Dali piece from the
Divine Comedy illustrations and in came "Cherish", an unfurling blossom that pulls viewers right into its vibrant centre. I had seen a similar work of Terry's years before and both my partner, David, and I knew exactly what we wanted.

The artist went to work and our lovely little commission was soon blooming in our home. Now, instead of guests coming through the door and being startled by Dali's sardonic skeletal challenge, they immediately enthuse in ohhhhhs and smiles; the warmth of our canvas reflects our cozy little home so much better.

Now I'm thinking a lot of people who dissatisfied with the way their home looks might be better served with one or two commissions. It could be a whole lot cheaper, and unlike colours and styles, good art never goes out of date."

I love Agapanthos(purple/white flower)…

This was the most amazing process to be part of…every few days Sandy sent her progress! It was so exciting to receive these emails…I felt like I was part of the creation although I live 3200 miles away!

While visiting Sandy, a childhood friend, I asked her if she’d paint me an Agapanthus. After lots of conversation and education about the many different “poses” of photos I sent to Sandy, we decided on what she would create. I expected that she would paint and send me her creation but that did not happen… it was so much better!

My Agapanthus hangs happily in my house!
